POLYESTER
We now reach 41% of all our polyester coming from certified or branded polyester (status for this financial year 2024/25*)

MAN-MADE CELLULOSE
We now reach 80% of all our cellulose coming from certified or branded cellulose (status for this financial year 2024/25* so far)

COTTON
We have committed to source 100% certified and branded cotton – such as organic cotton, recycled cotton, In-conversion cotton and Better Cotton. Read more here. 21% of all our cotton comes from organic cotton & 12% comes from re-cycled cotton (status for this financial year 2024/25* so far).
WE WORK WITH CERTIFIED AND BRANDED MATERIALS
We are working on doing our part and want traceability and transparency to drive our business – especially on material-level. Certified and Branded materials are how we think and talk about the materials that we use. We operate with: Organic fibres, Recycled fibres, Innovative fibres & certified animal fibres. The materials that we use are selected based on following criteria:
1. Impact: Reduced environmental impact (LCA documented) compared to the conventional fibre alternative.
2. Integrity and Certification: Fibre is traceable through the supply chain through a chain of custody certification or a fibre fingerprint tracer.
We aim to increase our share of certified and branded materials year-on-year.
ORGANIC MATERIALS
ORGANIC COTTON
Organic cotton is grown using methods and materials that reduce negative impact on the environment without toxic pesticides or synthetic fertilizers, improving soil health and protecting biodiversity. But aside from the obvious environmental benefits of organically grown cotton, the absence of hazardous chemicals also helps to improve the work environment of the local farmer.
IN-CONVERSION COTTON
The transition period for a farmer to get the organic certification takes an average of three years as the soil needs to recover from pesticides and synthetic fertilizers used commonly in conventional cotton farming. In-conversion cotton is grown using methods and materials approved by organic farming standards. By sourcing in conversion cotton we are supporting farmers in the transition phase from conventional to organic cotton production.
DIRECT TO FARM ORGANIC COTTON
With direct to farm we ensure transparency in the supply chain. From farmer to spinner, to fabric mill, to manufacturer. Organic cotton is grown using methods and materials that reduce negative impact on the environment without toxic pesticides or synthetic fertilizers, improving soil health and protecting biodiversity. But aside from the obvious environmental benefits of organically grown cotton, the absence of hazardous chemicals also helps to improve the work environment of the local farmer.
DIRECT TO FARM IN-CONVERSION COTTON
The transition period for a farmer to get the organic certification takes an average of three years as the soil needs to recover from pesticides and synthetic fertilizers used commonly in conventional cotton farming. In this period, when being supported under the Direct To Farm program, the farmers will be paid a premium when converting their farm while working under strict regulations (to ensure the land eventually qualifies to be certified organic under international standards).
RECYCLED MATERIALS
RECYCLED WOOL
Recycling wool saves natural resources like water and energy. Instead of shipping wool to disposal at landfills, recycling wool helps reduce the amount of textile waste. The recycled wool is reborn and later refashioned into new clothes.
RECYCLED COTTON
Recycled cotton is made from manufacturing waste like leftover fabric scraps or from used cotton garments and textiles. Recycling cotton reduces the waste of a natural resource like water. The amount of cotton waste that could have ended up in landfills is also significantly reduced.
RECYCLED POLYAMIDE
Recycled polyamide - is a synthetic material commonly sourced from post-industrial waste fibres like leftover fabric scraps collected from the spinning factory and waste from weaving mills. Recycling polyamide fibres saves natural resources and reduces the amount of textile waste.
RECYCLED POLYESTER
Recycled polyester is a synthetic material made from waste items like plastic bottles or leftover textiles waste from manufacturing. Recycling polyester saves natural resources and reduces the amount of waste.
BRANDED MAN-MADE CELLULOSICS FIBRES
TENCEL™ LYOCELL
TENCEL™ Lyocell fibres are derived from controlled or certified wood sources and the fibres are produced in a closed loop process which recovers 99.8% of the solvent – resulting in close-to-zero wastage. TENCEL™ is a trademark of Lenzing AG.
TENCEL™ MODAL
TENCEL™ Modal fibres are derived from controlled or certified wood sources and are made with at least 50% less carbon emissions and water consumption compared to generic modal. Results based on LCA standards (ISO 14040/44) and available via Higg MSI (Version 3.7). TENCEL™ is a trademark of Lenzing AG.
LENZING™ ECOVERO™
LENZING™ ECOVERO™ fibres are derived from controlled or certified wood sources and the fibres are certified with the EU Ecolabel for environmental excellence*. LENZING™ ECOVERO™ fibres are made with at least 50% less carbon emissions and water consumption compared to generic viscose.

LIVAECO BY BIRLA CELLULOSE™
Minimum content requirement 30%. Livaeco™ by Birla Cellulose. It is a man-made cellulosic fibre from wood pulp sourced from certified forests and is traceable across the value chain. Livaeco™ saves water and reduces environmental impact.
LIVA REVIVA BY BIRLA CELLULOSE™
Liva Reviva by Birla Cellulose is made with 80% wood pulp fibres sourced from sustainably managed forests combined with 20% pre-consumer fabric waste laying emphasis on responsible manufacturing following the principles of circular economy. Liva Reviva recycled viscose holds the distinction of RCS (Recycled Claim Standard) Certification and is traceable across the value chain.
TANGCELL™ ECOTANG™
Tangcell™ EcoTang™ branded viscose fibres are viscose fibres made from wood pulp. The wood pulp is derived from sustainably managed forests. The production of TANGCELL™ ECOTANG™ fibres has a significantly lower environmental impact than conventional viscose fibres.
CERTIFIED ANIMAL FIBRES (is certified as responsibly sourced according to verified third party standards)
CERTIFIED DOWN
In VERO MODA we only use responsibly sourced down that is sourced from sources certified to the Responsible Down Standard (RDS).
The RDS requires animal welfare practices to be in place at the duck and goose farms in the down and feather supply chain.
CERTIFIED WOOL
In VERO MODA we have a goal to source all our wool from responsible sources by 2025 - meaning certified to the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) or equivalent standards, organic wool or recycled wool.
The Responsible Wool Standard verifies wool animal welfare and land management requirements and tracks it from the source to the final product.
CERTIFIED ALPACA
The Responsible Alpaca Standard (RAS) verifies alpaca animal welfare and land management requirements and tracks it from the source to the final product. Read more here.

PLASTIC IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST ENVIROMENTAL PROBLEMS WE FACE.
WE WANT TO TAKE ACTION ON THIS NOW.
By 2025 we want to make all consumer packaging 100% reusable, recyclable or compostable. We will phase out single-use virgin plastic wherever it is possible. One of our first steps has been to start mapping our plastic and packaging footprint to know where it is meaningful to set in. At the same time, we are taking rapid action to reduce plastic use in the entire organisation.

EU ECO LABEL
VERO MODA was the first brand in BESTSELLER to be EU Ecolabel certified on certain styles with high volumes VERO MODA was even among the first brands within the Fashion Industry to have certain styles EU Ecolabel certified. Products with the EU ECO LABEL meet strict environmental and chemical requirements. A certification that creates reliability amongst our partners and customers.
